I invest way too many feelings into other people and then continually surprise myself whenever I feel myself start to break or tears welling up behind eyes that continue to determinedly gaze ahead in desperation. It’s amazing how I can beat my mind down to a bloody pulp with reason, and have emotion simply heal it in a second, only to leave me on my knees in pain. It’s not supposed to turn out this way, yet it always does, and once again through my stubborn reasoning, I decide that letting it eventually sink away from the surface of my demeanor in silent screams is better than ever uttering a word. Because the minute these words are heard, the more power it has over my consciousness.
